(above) Now in their fourth season, the Chester Stars delight on-lookers: over 150 star-burst glowing sculptures illuminate Main Street. The illumination starts December 1 and continues through the winter months.
Welcome to the Town of Chester, Connecticut, settled in 1692. Originally a shipbuilding and mill town, Chester today is often described as quaint and unique, with a picturesque Main Street. The people of Chester celebrate community, the outdoors, art, history, music, theater, crafts, cuisine and conversation. The quality of the cusine is high: three of our favorite restaurants - River Tavern, Grano, and Otto’s - are located within the one block that makes up the downtown area. (River Tavern is open for lunch every day, and Otto’s is open all day on Saturday and Sundays). One of the ice cream shops on our list - Honeycomb - is located in Chester as well. In the winter, the town is literally covered in stars (see photo). It makes for a festive setting. There are two art gallerys and a number of shops with a diverse range of offerings: everything from vintage finds to luxury Trudon candles.
